- During the winters in Norway, I become 100 percent focused on my music, says freestyle jazz musician Morten Fjoess.

Adept at traditional instruments such as piano, guitar, flute and harmonica, Fjoess is also a master of creating music the high-tech way.

For his latest project, Jazzmaster, he used the computer program Imagic Logic, a Lexicon processor, a Nemesis sampler, and various synthesizers (a Fender Rhodes electric piano).

Fjoess also has a side project, Velocity Rotation, which was originally formed on an amateur level, performing for friends and family. During the mid '90s, however, Norwegian radio stations got hold of Fjoess' music and placed some of his songs in heavy rotation. His songs were also played in Oslos top cafes and clubs. Despite his rising popularity, Fjoess still considered himself an «amateur musician». In fact, he was so busy with his job (Fjoess is a pilot for Scandinavian Airlines System) and other personal matters, that pursuing music as a career was not a heavy consideration.
