- Ivaretar all humoren

Hello, impress me! :)
-
Of course it's a hard job making a game out such a brilliant comic-book as the Bone series, and I must say, my expectations aren't high for your game. The video and screenshots I have seen so far seem, in my opinion a bit childish. What can you promise to impress me?
Can you play through the entire collection of nine books or just the first one, "Out from Boneville"?
How do this thing on realising it on the web work?
Will it be a one-way-to-go game or can you have chose differnt options and come to the same ending, ofcourse you have gone litterally "by the book" so maybe it world come to be prettu straight forward and plain.
Cheers for answers and good luck trying to make a videogame out of such a Comic as Bone, it's quite a task you've taken on yar.
Innsendt av: Bård Rynning
My only advice to you would be just try and enjoy it. We have done a ton of work bringing these characters and this world to life and we would love to meet all of your expectations, ultimately its just about having fun and enjoying yourseld

Congrats!
-
Hey Dan! Congratulations on the soon-to-be-release of Bone! It looks almost too good to be true :)
Since the game is going to be electronically distributed, how are you guys planning on catching people's attention? Are there planned any special marketing strategies, or are you counting on word of mouth?
Innsendt av: Eivind Hagerup, Adventure Gamers
We will be advertising the game at different websites that appeal to the varied audiences of Bone. Also Scholastic has a major campaign going for the colorized Graphic Novel, and that will raise recognition. Finally ,we will be looking for distribution partners with large amounts of traffic to their sites.

Games distribution over internet, the future?
-
At this moment, the industry seems to be ruled by evil publishers, and only those with lots of money and fame(capcom,nintendo,etc..), can gamble on innovative games. Also a major problem, is the shelf-life of a game, and the availability of old games. So I therefor ask you: Do you belive that distributing games over internet, as the main distribution channel is the future?
Innsendt av: Håvard
Its a really exciting time for content online in general. I think younger generations have really adopted the internet as their primary form of info and entertainment.

Compatible with Cedega?
-
Hello
I really am looking forward to this game. Phone Bone is one of my favorite comics.
I wonder if this game will work with Cedega (www.transgaming.com), so that we Linux users also can enjoy this game?
That would really be nice.
Regards korsi

Fans' expectations
-
How do you feel about making a game of the enourmously popular "Bone" series as opposed to the fairly unknown "Sam and Max" cartoon? Obviously the fans of Bone will have a stronger opinion of how things SHOULD be
Innsendt av: Arne M. Paulsen
I look at it this way, people have strong opinions because they have strong feelings. If they just don't care then you are in trouble..
I expect we will get negative comments from some Bone fans, but I will be proud that we made it happen, and gave them something to critique.

story
-
1. I have an impression that the video game industry needs better writers. I seldom feel emotionally involved with the story. And although the gameplay is important in a game, I often feel that I have to go somewhere else to find deep characters and stories. Why is this?
What is a good story? And how important is it to leave some information out when telling a story, for emotional involvement by the viewer? Or should one leave it all in. To keep me interested, I need elbow space to build on the story with my own imagination. Then the emotional experience is a result of my own interaction with the story. I do not like sentimentality because it is something that makes me feel forced into reacting in a certain way. Strangely, I feel that sentimentality often appears when the writer hesitates to rely on the reader/viewer/gamer's imagination.
How important do you think contrasts is in a story? For instance, do you think a blend between humour and tragedy is effective? Often in this type of blend, I feel that the tragedy element is toned down. Why is this?
2. Is there any chance for a resurrection of Sam'n'Max?
Innsendt av: Petter
These are great questions and maybe Snorre can get a round table together of interactive storytellers...
I will say this, the beauty of text adventures is that they leave so much to the users imagination. I don't think anyone has done as well at integrating story into gameplay as those early days. Of course it is much easier to write text then it is to build realistic characters and environments and then cast them etcetera.
The reason we went after the Bone license was because we knew it had been written by an experienced storyteller like Jeff Smith, who was focused on the mechanics of story writing that you bring up. Honestly I think he is more qualified then me to answer your questions on that front
As for your second question the perfect example of the mix of tragedy and humour Sam and Max, I can only say its possible. They are really great characters and obviously there is interest

Why?
-
Why did you cancel the sequel to Sam'n'Max?
And why is it that everytime a bell rings, an angel get's it's wings.. What has this got anything to do with the Bone-game? I don't know... I'm just here... Love..
Innsendt av: Frank
I didn't cancel Sam and Max.
Thanks for the Love Frank

Welcome to the suck.
-
It's a well known fact that Jeff Smith cancelled the Bone movie, because it was going on a steady course for suck. How involved has he been in this project, because frankly, this looks kind of sucky.
Innsendt av: Phonicible
Jeff is happy with this project because we addressed the things that are the most important to him. We kept the integrity of his work and made it interactive

Ful Throttle
-
Hello and thanks for making the fabolous Bone into a game, I'm sure it'll be great. How is your working relationship with LucasArts today? And can we, fingers crossed, expect a new Sam'n'Max game to be published ever again?
Innsendt av: Vegard
Its been a while since I spoke to anyone at LucasArts about business, but it is certainly on my list of things to do once Bone is done

Th' Audiosoundthingies
-
So! Animation and such is one thing (the BONE books looked pretty animated from the start, due to Jeff's excellent art style), but what have you done with regards to music, voices and sound effects? Which style will the music be in, are there any known voice actors, and so forth...
Also, what made you go for the rendered look rather than a more cel-shaded approach?
Innsendt av: MrP
Jeff was involved throughout the process, so we tried to match the voices he had for the characters in his head.

Humour
-
Will that great humour which recognised the older Lucasart games be present in Bone? I still remember the good old days when me and some friends had a great time with DOTT. Thanks!
Innsendt av:
That being said the characters themselves are just funny and the voice actors and animators have really brought out alot of that character.
and some of it is just plain "sasquatch in a hot tub" funny

Loosing imagination

Dear sir!
I have the entire Bone-collection and simply adore the plot and the caracters. Do you think the story will be weaker by letting people take their own paths in a game?
